TOPSoccer is a community-based soccer program that is designed to meet the needs of athletes ages eight and older with physical and/or developmental disabilities. The program is geared toward player development rather than to competition. Athletes are placed on teams according to ability NOT by age.
Who Plays TOPSoccer?
Any athlete with a disability including but not limited to: A.D.D., Autism, Hearing Impaired, Sight Impaired, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cystic Fibrosis, Down Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Seizure Disorder and Spinal Bifida. If you have a question about your athlete and whether this program fits their needs, contact the site coordinator nearest you. (See contact information below.)
Buddies are assigned to athletes who require one-on-one attention in order to succeed. Typically buddies are current youth soccer players, siblings or friends of the athletes.
TOPSoccer programs are run throughout the state by volunteer coordinators, and the program meets Sunday evenings to practice or play other TOPS programs. On game nights, all the programs gather at one location (rotates throughout the season) to play their opponents.
Registration is open for Summer 2020.
How can I get involved?
To volunteer as a coach or a buddy, contact Stacy at StacyDally@MNYouthSoccer.org (Letters of recommendation are issued to youth wishing to earn volunteer hours for their resume.)
