General Overview

The US Youth Soccer National Leagues are for the nation’s top teams in the 13U through 19U boys and girls age groups, offering additional exposure to collegiate, professional and U.S. National Team coaches. In the 2018-19 season, the program will include the national tier called the National League, which will feature a total of 352 teams, as well as the multi-state tier, which is comprised of several high-level competitive conferences throughout the country.

The US Youth Soccer National Leagues Program announced that it will feature a network of Conferences (formerly known as Regional Leagues) that are geographically focused, under one leadership and management structure, and linked into the highly successful National League and National Championship Series. Conferences are now under the management umbrella of the US Youth Soccer National League.

Minnesota (MYSA) Belongs to Two Conferences:

  • US Youth Soccer National League Midwest Conference (Fall and Spring Seasons) for Boys and Girls 13U–14U and Boys 15U–19U
  • US Youth Soccer National League Great Lakes Conference (Spring Season Only for States with Fall High School Soccer) for Girls 15U–19U

MYSA Teams Entrance into US Youth Soccer National Leagues

Entry of Minnesota teams ages 13U to 19U in US Youth Soccer National Leagues is selective and administered by the MYSA with endorsement criteria. Team participation in these leagues can begin at 13U starting in the Spring 2019 season.

Interested club teams who wish to participate in the US Youth Soccer National Leagues will need to apply with MYSA which in turn will provide teams with an application link. MYSA then reviews applications for approval and ranking. Teams from the former Midwest Regional League (MRL) who earned or maintained MRL Premier I or II status this last season may enter the new National League at the same levels. Teams without experience in the former MRL will be required to participate in MYSA (US Youth Soccer) leagues in either Classic I or Premier Leagues I or II.

Membership also requires that all teams take part in the National Championship Series. This means MYSA teams in the US Youth Soccer National Leagues will need to register for the Minnesota State Cup each spring.

SPRING 2019

Requirements for MYSA Endorsement of Entry into US Youth Soccer National Leagues:

All teams seeking entrance into the National League will be accepted after application so long as criteria are met. Teams that participate in Fall 2018 National League can continue seamlessly into Spring and subsequent seasons. New National League team entries for Spring 2019 season will require a criterion of past MYSA Classic 1 or Premier League results from the most recent season. The most recent season for 13U and 14U will be the Fall 2018 season. The most recent season for 15U and older will be the Summer 2018 season. Teams that enter in the Spring of 2019 will be placed in the National League 1st Division Level. National League membership requires teams to play in the Minnesota State Cup.  For continued endorsement to play subsequent National League seasons, teams are required to play in MYSA Classic 1 or Premier League.
