ODP Germany Tour

Minnesota ODP Germany Tour: Feb. 28–March 10

The Minnesota Olympic Development Program (ODP) recently partnered with the Minnesota United Development Academy on a 10-day trip to Germany for a once-in-a-lifetime international experience.

The Minnesota ODP Boys 2002 (17U), 2003 (16U) and 2004 (15U) teams traveled with the Minnesota United 2004 team to Frankfurt, Germany. The four teams were based at the Sportschule Wedau complex in Duisburg and trained or played against German club academy teams each day.

As part of the experience, the contingent got to experience Germany’s top professional league, the Bundesliga, including behind-the-scenes access. This included a tour of Borussia Dortmund’s stadium, observing Schalke 04 train on two occasions and attending two Bundesliga matches, Bayer Leverkusen vs. SC Freiburg and FC Mainz vs. Borussia Monchengladbach.

Benefits of Traveling Abroad:

  • Get out of your comfort zone
  • Build confidence
  • Be immersed in another language
  • Experience other cultures
  • Create lifetime memories
