BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (December 21, 2018) — Minnesota Youth Soccer and Street Soccer Twin Cities (SSTC) are strategically working together to grow soccer in underserved communities. SSTC is a mentor and guidance program that provides resources to youth in struggling urban areas around the greater Twin Cities area. The organization was founded in 2010 and has been giving youth in need free opportunities to be involved in soccer.
Matthew Madeira, Executive Director for Minnesota Youth Soccer comments, “We are very excited to partner with Street Soccer Twin Cities. SSTC is a valuable community partner and offers playing opportunities for inner city youth who might not have the ability to otherwise participate in soccer. This community outreach and enhancement directly aligns with the Minnesota Youth Soccer core focus of Soccer for Everyone.” MYSA recently provided a monetary donation and soccer balls for the 2018 Thanksgiving Youth Cup where more than 200 kids participated, and the event was a huge success.
“MYSA has been a pioneer in the soccer community and has expansive experience working with outreach programs to form lasting relationships with underserved soccer programs in the Twin Cities. As such, Street Soccer Twin Cities is delighted to partner with MYSA going forth. We commend MYSA for supporting Street Soccer Twin Cities' youth community,” stated Executive Director Soren Smogard-Ayers.
