MYSA Statement on Recruitment Violations

The purpose of this communication is to update and remind member clubs, their registered adults (coaches, managers and board members) and any agents of, are strictly prohibited from the recruitment of bound participants (players) from another club.

Clubs and their registered adults (coaches, managers and board members) shall be accountable for recruiting violations.  Those found in violation of MYSA rules arising from recruiting are subject for suspension (from all coaching and managing) and/or denied membership into the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association.

MYSA Definition: Recruiting

Approaching a player through personal contact, telephone, email or any other means, to induce that player to register with an Affiliate Member or Extraterritorial Member while that player is bound to a member club. This does not include advertisements or announcements directed to the general public.

The recruitment of bound participants (players) is addressed in MYSA Rule 1.3.4.1 PLAYERS BOUND TO MEMBER CLUB

“Recruiting a player who is bound to a club is prohibited. Any individual, regardless of their affiliation status, who has contact with players bound to a club, be it in person, paper or electronic means, or by soliciting currently registered players and their families to reach out to their teammates and their families for the purposes of leaving their current club and either moving to an existing MYSA club or future applicant of MYSA membership will be subject for suspension and/or denied membership into the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association.”
