Thank you to the players and their families who participated in this year’s identification process. Programming will continue for those players selected to pools May–July. From the age group pools we will determine who will travel to regional showcase in June. As it has become the standard, Minnesota will take more players to the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) Regional camp than any other state in the Midwest.
We would like to thank the club coaches for supporting the players in this process. Time away from club programming can often be difficult to manage and whenever clubs can provide for their players to experience US Youth Soccer ODP it can be a clear benefit to the individual.
The US Youth Soccer ODP process at a State level spans seven years. We appreciate seeing players come back out annually as well as seeing new faces. Thus, we encourage every player to continue to try out for selection year after year through their eligibility. At the Highest end of youth soccer, US Youth Soccer ODP remains the number one identification process for Selection to the U.S. National Team programs.
For our older players who came out of this year we encourage all of you to indicate on your soccer/college resumes that you are a “Minnesota US Youth Soccer ODP Participant”. Please feel free to list the MYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development as a reference. We receive many calls from college coaches and will reference or pass along inquiries in order to support all of you in your college searches.
The best types of players to coach are those that want to be there. For this US Youth Soccer ODP season, approximately 1,100 players identified their interest and willingness to work hard. While we unfortunately cannot keep all of the players in the program, as we move forward every player’s contribution is meaningful and fully appreciated by our staff. We wish all the players a healthy and productive season, look forward to working with those players selected here and seeing all of the 2003 to 2009’s next season.
Please note that post ODP identification e-mails and mailings will only be sent to invitees listed here on the MYSA website. If your child is identified here but does not receive an e-mail by Sunday, May 19 (in the morning) please contact Chato Alvarado at 952 252-1688 (800-366-6972 ext. 211) or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you to all the players and parents for their enthusiasm and efforts.
