Injury Prevention and Load Management
Thursday May 21st at 7:00 pm (CST)

Presenter: EXOS-Mayo Clinic

Thursday May 28th at 7:00 pm (CST)

Presenter: Calvin Mai

Soccer is characterized as a short burst of high-intensity, intermittent, contact team sport that occurs with intermittent rest periods. Players from the professional level to the youth level should train specifically to meet those specific game-like physiological demands. As players and teams continue home “virtual” training and begin implementation of non-contact team training and fitness, it is important coaches provide appropriate parameters for their players. The days of running killers, shuttle runs or five miles slow jogs are obsolete and not effective for what the modern game is currently.

The presentation will identify what the physical demands of youth players are in today's game, how to properly increase load/volume each week, and how to properly implement appropriate “fitness” training.
