Coaching Education in Brazil

For MINNESOTA YOUTH SOCCER, Mr. Ian Barker, has asked SOCCER FUTURO to propose a nine-day eight-night program in Brazil for its Coaches. The program will be arranged by Prof. Emilio Miranda, the Athletic Director of the University of São Paulo, General Secretary of the São Paulo State Professional Coaches Association and himself, a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association.

Designed to meet the training and continuing education of the MYSA Coaches. This tour will have as its main objective an introduction to coaching tactics, conditioning and the overall training methods of the game from the unique perspective of some of the best coaches in Brasil. We will concentrate on the development of youth players in the top professional clubs in São Paulo and Santos. The morning sessions will be devoted to training methodology at SE Palmeiras, Corinthians, São Paulo FC and Portuguesa. We will also travel to the beautiful port city of Santos and observe training and meet with the coaching staff at this world-renowned club.

Each afternoon we will have lecture sessions from the top club coaches in the Brazilian game on these subjects:

  • Defensive and offensive systems of play
  • Tactical counter attacking football
  • Team Building
  • Technical and physical preparation for youth players
  • The selection process: How to select and develop talent in youth players

The program is intended to meet the requirements set forth by Ian Barker for improved knowledge of the “Brazilian” game, a greater appreciation of its coaching methodology and an enhanced appreciation of the philosophy of coaching found in Brazil.

Tucked in between a tropical rainforest and beaches, it offers its visitors an awesome number of places to visit. And anyone looking for the familiar features of a sophisticated contemporary metropolis will find everything they want and more in ‘Rio, the City of Marvels’.
