MYSA Goalkeeper Challenge

The Goalkeeper Challenge is a 4-day intensive training program designed for the highly committed and motivated goalkeeper ages 14 and up, including current college goalkeepers.

Goalkeepers will experience:

  • Daily on-the-field technical and tactical instruction designed to challenge both the body and the mind
  • Daily classroom lectures and video analysis on the topics of the day
  • Daily physical training featuring speed, agility, plyometrics and a demanding self-training series
  • Written evaluation from staff coach
  • Goalkeeper War Tournament

Curriculum:

  • Shot-stopping: Catching, diving, tipping, parrying
  • Breakaway Saves: Responding to 1v1 and 2v1 situations
  • Dominating the 18 yard Box: Dealing with crossing situations
  • Being the 1st Attacker: Technique and tactics of throwing, dropkicks, punts, and goal kicks
  • Leading from Behind: Organizing, dealing with back passes, and playing the ball at your feet
Daily Schedule  
7:45am Arrive at camp
8:00–9:00 am Physical Training
9:00–11:00 am Training Topic I
11:00 am–12:00 noon Lunch (provided)
12:00 noon–1:00 pm Lecture/Classroom
1:00–3:00 pm Training Topic II
3:00 pm Departure

Camp ends early enough to allow goalkeepers to attend team training/games in the evening.

Accommodations: Off-site hotel accommodations will be made available close to the camp site for interested players and their parent/guardian (if under 18). Accommodation costs are not included in the registration fee as this is NOT a residential camp. Parent/Guardians are responsible for the supervision of participants under the age of 18 who choose to stay in the hotel. Contact the MYSA office for information.
