MYSA Goalkeeper Challenge

June 10-13, 2013 (8:00 am – 3:00 pm)

Location: Eastview High School (Apple Valley, Minn.)

The Goalkeeper Challenge is a 4-day intensive training program designed for the highly committed and motivated goalkeeper ages 14 and up, including current college goalkeepers.

Goalkeepers will experience:

  • Daily on-the-field technical and tactical instruction from the highest quality GK staff possible
  • Daily classroom lectures and video analysis on the topics of the day
  • Daily physical training featuring speed, agility, power and a demanding self-training series
  • Goalkeeper War Tournament

Curriculum:

  • Shot-stopping: Catching, diving, tipping, parrying
  • Breakaway Saves: Responding to 1v1 and 2v1 situations
  • Dominating the 18 yard box: Dealing with crossing situations
  • Being the 1st Attacker: Technique and tactics of throwing, dropkicks, punts and goal kicks
  • Leading from Behind: Organizing, dealing with back passes and playing the ball at your feet

Daily Schedule

7:45 am Arrive at camp
8:00–9:00 am Technical Warm-up
9:00–11:30 am Group Activity & Game
11:30 am–12 noon Lunch
12:00–1:00 pm Classroom Session
1:00–2:00 pm Larger Group Topic
2:00–3:00 pm Competition
3:00 pm Departure

Camp ends early enough to allow goalkeepers to attend team training/games in the evening.

Cost: $395

Deadline: Online registration closed Sunday, May 12, 2013. The Goalkeeper Challenge is full.

Accommodations: Hotel accommodations at a discounted rate may be available for interested players and their parent/guardian (if under 18). Hotel costs are not included in the registration fee as this is not a residential camp. A parent/guardian is responsible for the supervision of participants under the age of 18 who stay in the hotel. The Shutout Division

The Shutout Division is a specialized training group within the Goalkeeper Challenge for goalkeepers seeking the most demanding training environment possible. Application required.

  • Limited enrollment
  • 16 years of age and older and current college GK’s
  • Increased emphasis on leadership, training ethic, and tactical play

To apply: Submit playing resume, statement of personal goals (1 page max), and a letter of reference from a coach regarding your ability and attitude.
