MYSA is committed to the development of administrators and coaches as well as players. As a way to achieve this goal, each year we offer a day-long symposium filled with topics to assist you in your role(s) within your club. This year’s event was designed so that coaches and administrators had the opportunity to attend sessions designed to help them PASS IT FORWARD within their community.
Club administrators will gain knowledge to assist them in their club functions by attending administrative sessions covering nonprofit board governance, club administrators/officers' roundtable, conflict management, grant writing, club/team fundraising opportunities, club-customized referee development and rec club coach mentor program. Some of Minnesota Youth Soccer's board, committee and staff members, professionals from the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, as well as a panel of fundraising company representatives will share their knowledge and expertise in these important areas.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn from the 2014 US Youth Soccer Dr. Thomas Fleck Award winner, Bob Gansler. This award is given to those who have made extensive contributions to the education of youth coaches. He was also the U.S. Soccer Men’s National Team coach from 1989-1991. Other distinguished presenters will include April Kater, Head Development Coach for the U.S. Youth Women’s National Teams, and Deana Waintraub, assistant coach for the University of Minnesota Women’s Soccer team. The area of concentration for the older age group coaching sessions will be “Systems of Play.”
2013 MYSA Hall of Fame inductee Phil Johnson will be conducting the ever-popular Y Modules for the U6 through U10 coaches just beginning their coaching career or wanting to add to the tools they already have for working with their younger teams. This is a rare opportunity to attend all of the modules in a single day.
“A” License coaches looking to fulfill continuing education requirements will have the opportunity to obtain one CE credit by attending sessions on Friday evening and Saturday.
Note: Walk up registrations will be accepted at the door for a fee of $140.
