Description: Certified athletic trainers have advanced training in treating on field and overuse injuries, and work to return the athlete to play as quickly and as safely as possible. MSM offers a 25 percent discount to MYSA club members.

Sports Medicine Essentials I: First Aid Training
Description of the training: Sports Medicine Essentials I is a two-hour first aid training workshop designed specifically for coaches. MSM sports medicine doctors and athletic trainers teach on-field first aid training for wide-ranging conditions such as nosebleeds, concussions, fractures and joint dislocations. Hands-on skills training for ankle taping is included. Cost: $75 for MYSA Club Members.

Club requirements and responsibilities: Clubs provide key contact, host site and Power point capabilities, and work with MSM to coordinate with the presenter.

First Step for Soccer
Description: This injury prevention and strengthening program developed by sports medicine experts helps coaches and team managers to create a custom pre-season and in-season program to improve cutting, pivoting, strength and agility and prevent injury. Training manuals and DVD included. Created by sports medicine experts who are soccer players, including former Minnesota Thunder player, Pierre Morice.
The First Step Program is enthusiastically endorsed by MYSA as a truly valuable contribution to better serving the youth soccer coach and youth soccer player in the prevention of injury and improved performance. It is highly recommended viewing and reading for everyone in MYSA.
