Mission Statement

The Minnesota Youth Soccer Association promotes the game of soccer for all youth in Minnesota. We promote the importance of education, self-esteem, diversity and teamwork in a safe, fun environment, allowing players to develop to their fullest potential in soccer and in life.


Diversity Statement

The Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) embraces its members’ diversity and uniqueness. MYSA programs and services are open to all regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, language, culture, mental/physical ability and socioeconomic status. MYSA promotes access to soccer for all youth.

 

Overview

Name:

The Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), a non-profit corporation.

Mission:

The Minnesota Youth Soccer Association promotes the game of soccer for all youth in Minnesota. We promote the importance of education, self-esteem, diversity and teamwork in a safe, fun environment, allowing players to develop to their fullest potential in soccer and in life.

Philosophy:

Fair, safe and enjoyable soccer for youth players of all skill levels and their families.

History:

Founded in 1969 as the Minnesota Junior Soccer League. Incorporated in 1987 as the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.

Affiliation:

Member of US Youth Soccer and U.S. Soccer Federation.

Membership:

Approximately 75,000 players (ages 6 to 19), 13,000 coaches and administrators, and 55,000 soccer families.

Basic Registration Fee:

Players - $7.00 annually; Adults - $12.00 annually.

Organizational Structure:

Ten full-time employees, 15-member board of directors and several committees.

Programs:

Recreation, Recreation Plus, Competitive, US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional League (MRL), District Select Program, State Select/Olympic Development Program, Soccer Start, TOPSoccer, Player Clinics and Camps, Coaching Schools, Parents And Coaches Together (PACT).

Services:

Computerized player registration, secondary medical insurance, liability insurance, directors and officers insurance, online adult background check registration, US Youth Soccer KidSafe Program, Tellscore online score reporting system, online game rescheduling and informational website.

Events:

US Youth Soccer Minnesota State Cup, MYSA Summer State Tournament, MYSA Fall State Tournament, U9/U10 Summer Jamboree, U9/U10 Fall Jamboree, US Youth Soccer Kohl’s American Cup, Winter Symposium and Annual General Meeting.

Publications:

Minnesota Soccer Times – six times per year, circulation = 55,000 households; Give & Go (electronic newsletter for club administrators, etc.), circulation = 1,300; Coaches Corner (electronic newsletter for club DOCs, etc.), circulation = 2,500.
